Sungudi Sarees

Sungudi is the tie-and-dye cotton of Madurai, where small sections of cloth are knotted before dyeing so the dots resist colour and stay pale against the ground.

About Sungudi Sarees

The craft travelled south with Saurashtrian weavers centuries ago and settled around Madurai and Aundipatti, where ours are woven. Light, breathable and endlessly wearable, a Sungudi saree carries pattern without weight — which is why it has stayed a South Indian daily-wear favourite for generations. Available with and without a matching blouse piece. Hand wash separately for the first few washes, as natural dyes may release colour.
